ABC Family Nursery Policies

Basic Principles of Care and Education

At ABC Family Nursery we believe that a happy child will be willing and wanting to explore the world around them.

We aim to provide a happy, homely atmosphere for the children by respecting each child as an individual, together with sensitive and appropriate intervention which will lead to positive, social and emotional growth in young children. A child needs to be socially and emotionally secure to be able to interact with others. At A B C we encourage children to learn through experience, we achieve this by the following principles.

Encouraging the children to develop recognition of letters and numbers through books and creative activities. Children are encouraged to develop pencil control naturally through activities and praise.
Children are offered the experience of music and movement, physical and creative activities, outdoor activities, free play, role-play,
threading activities, messy play, and much more.
Positive verbal interaction from adults encourages children to develop basic knowledge and understanding of the world around them, personal and social awareness, basic mathematical concepts and basic language and literacy skills.
Carers being aware of what the children are learning and experiencing from each activity and object, through planning and the
Early Learning Goals. By the time the children leave for school they will be well prepared for the years ahead of them.

Carer Ratio
ABC aim to offer higher ratios than the minimum legal requirements:.
